Goals are mostly a big tall tale to me unless We re-visit them daily.

I written a post in Jan about my proper dog training goals for 2016 as well as haven’t thought about all of them since.

Embarrassing.

My goals should be simpler than that, which means that here’s an idea for individuals:

Write down 3 dog-related objectives for the remainder of September.

That’s the item. There’s only, precisely what, two weeks left inside month? That’s perfect.

We can write down the similar goals or several goals for November, when we get there.

My September dog training goals

My dog is often a 9.5-year-old black Research mix. You’ll see these are definitely more about training Us than training my personal dog.

Goal #1: Stop drawing on the leash.

That’s ideal. Me.

This hooman needs to re-learn the woman’s loose-leash walking skills.

I’m continually tugging Ace alongside lately. Not within a mean or strong way and not to be able to “correct” him. I’m just simply pulling him from sniffing things and trying to get him to move faster.

You know what takes place when you constantly tug on the leash?

The canine learns to ignore Your complete verbal commands anf the husband gets desensitized to the drawing too.

Basically my pet ignores me.

He disregards me because For a nice and ignoring him. Miserable, right?

So, my goal is to move without tugging on the teather at all, only if I want to do so for protection reasons.

Instead, I’m going to:

[check_list]

  • talk to my dog (Wow! What a concept!)
  • carry treats
  • reward him or her for looking at me
  • randomly call hime constantly or ask him to take a seat or “watch”

[/check_list]

You know, all of that basic stuff I actually?should be doing anyways!

Goal #2: Teach my pet a new “trick.”

The reason this will be relevant is because:

[check_list]

  • tricks are fun!
  • teaching something new encourages my more mature guy to keep learning
  • it gives us something to work about together

[/check_list]

Ace and I plateaued on your training about Seven years ago.

He knows a variety of tricks and instructions (spin, roll over, back, crawl, speak, sing, jump, bang, etc.), but he found out these when he concerned 2 years old. He has now 9.

I can’t think of a simple, attractive trick to teach your pet that he doesn’t already know just. Does anyone use a creative idea?

I may attempt to teach him to put his gadgets away, which is not accurately simple but is challenging for us.

3. Travel my dog towards a park, store (or anywhere!) once per week.

Because a park makes my very own dog so satisfied!

Ace?can’t go for extended walks anymore. One mile is about his or her limit, which means most of us mostly walk around the neighborhood.

I can tell my pet dog is not very energized for these walks. They’re boring. Or not definitely worth the effort.

HOWEVER, our town welcomes dogs more or less everywhere C stores, bars, fast food restaurants, restaurants C and we possess the dog beach, tracks and parks.

Plus, my own dog is one of those rock-solid dogs you can consider anywhere and he will likely not react. Nothing fazes the pup. So many people would love to use a dog they can take anywhere!

Our options are unlimited.

So my goal is to drive my personal dog to the seashore in replace individuals walk at least one day per week and to drive him to another arbitrary place sometime about each weekend. This really is someplace my husband Josh we are already visiting or it could be a place picked specifically for Ace.

I’ll blog post these outings with Instagram. Follow us here.

So there you have it.

My September ambitions are:

1. No tugging on the leash (with the HOOman!)

2. Teach my pet a new trick

3. Visit a fresh place each week
