There’s no training collar that really works best for every dog, and that is certainly what I’m gaining access to with this post.
Heck, there is not even a collar that work well best for one dog overall situations!
Walking my dog downtown while hauling a coffee and shopping bags is way different than walking him in a calm nature preserve, for example.
So in this post, I’m presenting what I like and don’t like about the a couple of tools I’ve put to use while walking my very own 10-month-old weimaraner puppy Remy:
- the Gentle Leader
- the prong receiver collar and
- the Easy Walk no-pull harness

Which one is best?
In case you’ve not figured it out, not any tool is perfect.
Truth can be, my puppy pulls virtually no matter what and it’s a piece in progress, always.
Limiting your dog’s pulling needs time to work. It’s really about patience, training, consistency and finding whatever application helps you MANGAGE your dog while keeping everyone safe.
I is only able to tell you which collars for dogs are best for my particular puppies.
So which collar is best for Remy?
I actually like the Delicate Leader best for the major variety of dogs (I’m a dog walker and also rescue volunteer).
That remaining said, the Soothing Leader is the worst on the three tools with regard to Remy. For him, it’s actually a tie between the prong collar and the Easy Wander harness. I haven’t made the decision which is best well, i rotate between them based on what we’re executing. See below.
The Soft Leader
I love the Gentle Leader but it can not work well for my pup.
The Gentle Leader matches over the dog’s barrel (similar to a horse halter). When the dog pulls, any collar is designed to delicately pull the dog’s muzzle and visit the side.
The Gentle Chief works so well for a lot of dogs and it’s my top rated recommendation. I’ve tried it on probably 1 hundred dogs by now.
However, it is not so good for my new puppy Remy.
Remy closes his lips (avoids panting), puts his or her head low and also to the side and drags HARD against it the entire walk. This will cause the fabric to caress under his view, making the skin organic and his eyes bug out. It hurts them. And after a half-hour he has been nearly having a heating stroke from definitely not panting.
When we pass consumers, he paws from his muzzle frantically and stands regarding his hind feet causing people to end and other dogs that will react.
It frustrates as well as embarrasses me, and Remy can be frustrated.
So, not a good healthy.
I might try it again any time Remy’s more mature.
The prong collar

Easy Walk no-pull harness
The Painless Walk harness is often a nylon harness that will limits the effects of the dog’s pulling considering that the leash clips towards the chest and tightens up the harness around the dog’s chest and shoulders?whilst pulls. It delicately pulls him aside and makes tugging uncomfortable.
I bought a sizeable, so Remy’s is still a bit lose on your pet, but not for long!
The Simple Walk harness has a tendency to work pretty well intended for Remy. I like that it takes each of the pressure off the neck. (Although, it will do rub his skin tone raw under their arms. Sigh.)
He still draws while wearing it (naturally), but it does produce our walks more pleasurable and he seems more joyful too. The Easy Go harness is more effective along with Remy than I expected. You will find a reason you see so many individuals using them. They work!
My main problem with the harness can it be still allows Remy the freedom to jump on people. A prong collar works better intended for controlling him as he tries to jump.
Because in this, I tend to use the prong receiver collar when I’m walking both my pet dogs together by myself given it gives me more control. In my longer strolls and also hikes with Remy on his own, I tend to use the funnel.

Well, I personally use the Gentle Innovator for my Lab combine Ace. It works the most beneficial for him.

I use three gear every day between the two dogs.
For fast potty breaks in your apartment, the prong receiver collar works best for Remy because I are able to keep him under control around other dogs. I can stop him by jumping and constantly moving around.
For longer walks around the neighborhood or simply hiking, the Easy Move harness is best in the event that Remy’s going to be pulling it requires the pressure of the neck.
And for the guides where I acquire both dogs on my own, I prefer to have Remy on the prong collar.
It is?hard to wrangle two substantial dogs, pick up feces, carry the waste bags and maneuver other residents.
